The Watts Power Stations Cycle Challenge
A 125 mile ride around
the East and West Midlands to the Trent Valley passing some of the old power
stations that made it known as “MegaWatt” Valley.
In November 2013 my Dad lost his 16 year battle with
cancer. His last 3 weeks were spent
being cared for in the Marie Curie Hospice at Solihull, so I am trying to raise
enough money to cover a few of those days for a terminally ill patient.
On Sunday 9th November the challenge is to ride around the CEGB power stations and sites my Dad worked at after he moved down to the Midlands in ‘63: Castle Donnington, Willington, Drakelow, Hams Hall and CEGB HQ Shirley. Also included will be a “ride-by” of where we used to live during this time; Castle Donnington, Mickleover, Cheswick Green and Hockley Heath.
I remember my Dad cycling to work in the Summer months when I was young, so this may explain why I ride to work so much myself.

This will be a 125 mile effort in November, with the shortening days and the usual bad weather at this time of year I shall be expecting a bit of a "sufferfest"!
